  • Gorelik V., Zolotova T. General approach to modelling procedures of risk management and its application to stochastic hierarchical systems
  • The general model of risk management is suggested, which consists of two sub-models: the model of system efficiency estimation and that of risk estimation. The problems of management in stochastic systems, and also in complex hierarchical systems under internal uncertainty, are considered. The methods to find the solution for these problems are developed, which allow finding the optimum control strategy to balance efficiency and stability.

  • Novikov D. Hierarchical models of combat
  • Modern trends in the design of complex hierarchical models of combat are discussed. First the brief navigator of the mathematical models of combat (including descriptive, simulation, optimization and game-theoretical models) is given. Two canonical models and their extensions are considered in more detail, being the typical examples – Lanchester’s equations and colonel Blotto games. Finally, the hierar-chical approach to combat modeling is described and analyzed.

  • Rudko I. Applying order statistic to detection problems
  • The concept of truncated order statistic is introduced. Analytical expressions are derived for the mean value and the variance of truncated order statistic for a threshold determined by the number of the variation series member. The algorithm of noisy signal detection is developed for detection systems, which employ the algorithm of statistical hypotheses testing and energy criterion of detection. The algorithm uses statistical characteristics of the order statistic.

  • Lototsky A. Some aspects of target environment simulator design during development of distributed modeling system
  • Performance is one of the most important quantitative indicators of simulation software based on distributed calculations. For a target environment simulator (being the main element of the whole class of such systems) major performance related problems are discussed. Using solutions and proposals provided one can increase overall system efficiency and performance.

  • Tukubayev Z., Umarov A. Model of education quality management in high school
  • The problem is considered of higher education quality increase in the context of Kazakhstan universities. We suggest an approach based on an incentive scheme for employees of a university. The article is intended for education management personnel.

  • Astanin S., Zhukovskaja N. Using fuzzy graph models for business-process control
  • An approach is considered to model business processes and projects under uncertainty. We suggest the procedures for fuzzy situational network construction, which models possible strategies of business process (or project) implementation. Our approach also includes the procedures for the analysis of a strategy.

  • Vasilyeva T., Myznikova B., Rusakov S. Stochastic models of urban development
  • An approach to stochastic modeling of interaction between two subsystems of an urban economy is developed and applied to the analysis of real-world statistical data.

  • Ratner S., Michaylov V. Development of oil&gas companies in situation of “technological gap”
  • We suggest a simulation model for choosing a strategic direction of oil&gas company development under a scenario of gradual displacement of traditional energy generation technologies with innovative renewable energy sources. We use this model to investigate influence of innovations intensity and details of funds distribution on company income.

  • Mironyuk V., Tsyplakov V. Design of two-stage system for solid municipal waste transportation
  • We solve the problem of design of a two-stage system for solid municipal waste transportation to derive the optimum number and location of waste transfer stations. The specific feature of the model is that the constructed system is adapted to local conditions of the considered territory.

  • Koshev A., Gvozdeva I., Varentsov V. Calculation optimal conductivity of flowing volume-porous cathodes
  • The possibility is considered of controlling an electrochemical reactor with flowing volume-porous coal-graphite fibroid cathodes by varying the distribution through depth of conductivity of the base to attain the flat distribution through depth of electroactive components. The optimal control problem is set and the algorithm for its solution is suggested. The results of calculations and experiments are outlined.

  • Karshakov E. Calibration problem for electromagnetic relative positioning system
  • Calibration algorithms are introduced for an airborne low-frequency electromagnetic relative positioning system, which allow for more accurate measurement of a distance between the alternating magnetic field transmitter and receiver. Several problem settings are considered for different information sets used for calibration. Calibration results are presented for an electromagnetic relative positioning system integrated in aircraft-carried EM-4H system for airborne geophysical survey.
